At age 17, I had a vision.
A vision of uniting the Iron Legion and bringing forth a new age of strength. A vision that after 8 years is now reality. The roots of the Iron Stronghold are ripe with passion, the image of a fortress of training imprinted on my mind since I began the quest for strength. It all began in a tiny 18 square meter garage in my father’s house.
” Club Massive” as it was known back in the early days, a group of enthusiastic young guys and girls training as hard as they could in this tiny sanctum of steel, a single bent bar, a few light dumbells, a passion for training like no other. This planted the seed of the Stronghold, that has been nurtured and grown into what you see today.
After many years of training and learning, countless quests and gained experience the time was right for the next phase.
“Sapphire Coast Barbell”
Back to the roots, in the 18 sqm garage we began the journey of strength, this time with a team of passionate lifters united under the banner of The Iron Legion.
One rack, one bench, one platform, three barbells. The tools of the trade. Everything we needed and nothing we didn’t. In the tiny garage we trained harder than ever. Competing at National powerlifting events, Novice events and State level competitions. The next chapter begins with the expansion of SCB. Moving to a more favorable location, the pristine bush land of Yellow Pinch, the enchanted forest.
In this 70 sqm shed, in the middle of nowhere, we continued to grow the community of strength athletes. No advertising, no gimmicks, just word of mouth, hard training and coaching for everyone that trained.
SCB will always hold a special place in all of the members hearts, at this location we have held 4 powerlifting competitions, with people coming from Sydney and Canberra to compete. We’ve continued to grow as a team, competing in multiple State level competitions in GPC at Burley Strength in Canberra.
The vision still burnt bright, like a furnace, glowing in my mind. Now, as a team. The Iron Stronghold is being built, the foundation is being set. We seek to bring the best out of everyone. The strong, the weak, the new, the old, the young. No one is excluded from their own personal quest for strength.
This gym exists to provide everyone with an avenue to pursue their best self. To grow as a team, to support each other, to always strive to do their best. Not just in the gym, but in all avenues of life. Through an unyielding passion and vision this dream has now become reality. The combined strength of the team at SCB that now venture forth into the Iron Stronghold helped embolden this dream and assisted in creating this story.
This is just the beginning. The framework has been set. I believe that everyone should train to be strong and that every body should take up the barbell, grab it firmly and lift until you die.

Thank you for reading.
